Integrating Knowledge for Organizations

When looking at an organization for how we might lead it’s #learninganddevelopment processes, first we must consider, who are these people we are seeing? What are their roles? What is their competency in these roles? Do they need a new set of information for jobs they might seek in the future? How can I anticipate their needs before even they know?

And the questions should keep continuing to be asked, as each organization has its own specific positives and solutions to be addressed.

But our question is, how do we effectively integrate information for our audience in a way to improve their ability to complete their work tasks and improve in their roles and job satisfaction?

We need to look at our employees as an audience as they are the ones that will be consuming the content. Think specifically about who we are serving. Next, we need to think about how they will be using the content, whether it is digital like a computer or tablet, or is it in a classroom setting.

Do these people need to take a class once or will they require information after the class as a reference for their jobs in the future? Each class is going to differ, and everyone will have differing needs.

So how do we integrate knowledge? A variety of approaches can be used, such as eLearning, Instructor Led Classrooms, Workshopping, a digital reference location such as a Wikipedia approach. Maybe we can setup user groups to assist a new technology so that the group can learn together and share their experiences.

As experts and teachers, we should be open to a variety of approaches because everyone utilizes knowledge in ways that best suit them. Some people enjoy time speaking with others and others would rather read an instruction manual than be asked to speak.

Being aware is our most important take away and we should work to best assist their efforts.
